Compression Boot Therapy.
Stop losing days to slow recovery.
Compression Boot Therapy at SANO Physio, Paddington.
Accelerate recovery from surgery to training hard.
If you are training consistently, recovering from surgery, or simply putting a lot into staying active, your body needs more than a rest day to bounce back. Compression boot therapy is one of the most evidence-supported tools for supporting and accelerating recovery. At SANO Physio, its delivered with clinical rigour to fit into your rehabilitation or performance pathway.
A session of sequential air compression works through your legs like a deep lymphatic massage, clearing inflammation, improving circulation, and reducing muscle soreness. You’ll work with our physiotherapists who understand what your body is dealing with, how the body recovers, what slows it down and how to get the most from each session.
Who is compression therapy for?
SANO Physio works with a wide range of patients, from competitive runners and endurance athletes managing heavy loads, to post-operative patients recovering from knee, hip, ankle or other orthopaedic procedures.
The great news, compression therapy is one of the most versatile recovery tools in clinical practice.
Sessions can be booked as standalone treatments or combined with a physiotherapy appointment for fully integrated care. No referral is required.
Reduces delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) after training or competition.
Accelerates lymphatic drainage and clearance of metabolic waste from fatigued tissue
Improves blood circulation and oxygen delivery to recovering muscle
Decreases post-surgical swelling, a clinically recognised tool in orthopaedic rehabilitation
Supports pre-competition warm-up by activating circulation before you begin
Are you managing post-operative swelling, injury-related inflammation, or early-stage pain? Compression therapy actively supports the body’s healing process, reducing oedema, improving circulation and clearing the metabolic waste that slows recovery.
Therabody Jetboots PRO Plus.
At SANO Physio, we use the Therabody JetBoots PRO Plus, a FDA-cleared device that combines pneumatic compression, infrared LED light therapy, and vibration therapy simultaneously.
Proprietary TruGrade Technology™ calibrates pressure precisely to the size of your leg across four overlapping chambers, while FastFlush Technology™ completes each inflation cycle in as little as 60 seconds. Eight programs designed by sports scientists allow each session to be tailored to your clinical needs.
Sequential pneumatic compression works by inflating chambers in a specific sequence, mimicking the natural pumping action of the lymphatic system.
This prevents backflow and ensures the blood and metabolic waste compresses upwards rather than simply squeezing the leg. This clears lactic acid and inflammatory markers fasters, healing inflammation and tissue more efficiently.

FastFlush Technology™
Full inflation / deflation in as little as 60 seconds

FAQ
-
The JetBoots inflate in sequence (foot, calf, knee, then thigh), mimicking the natural pumping action of your lymphatic system. Each chamber overlaps with the next during inflation, preventing backflow and driving metabolic waste (lactic acid, inflammatory markers) upward and out of fatigued tissue. FastFlush Technology™ then rapidly deflates the boot before the next cycle begins, maximising the number of flush cycles per session.

Most people find it deeply relaxing. A rhythmic, wave-like pressure that's firm but never painful. The JetBoots PRO Plus are fully adjustable from 20–100 mmHg in 5 mmHg increments, and our team sets the pressure to a level that feels therapeutic for your body. It's common for patients to fall asleep during their session.
-
Recovery lounges offer compression as a standalone wellness experience. SANO Physio is a clinical environment. Your session is guided by Sports & Exercise Physiotherapists who understands your injury history, training load, and current recovery phase. Settings are personalised and your session integrates with your broader treatment plan if you're a current patient.
-
It depends on your goal. For recovery, sessions within 30–60 minutes post-exercise are most effective while muscles are still warm. For pre-competition, the Warm-Up preset activates circulation before you begin. For post-surgical or injury management, timing is guided by your physiotherapist based on your healing phase. We'll give you a clear recommendation at your first session.
-
Yes, pneumatic compression is a well-established clinical tool for managing post-operative swelling and supporting early tissue healing following orthopaedic procedures. Suitability and timing depend on your specific procedure and healing stage. We'll review your surgical history before commencing and liaise with your treating team as needed.
-
This depends entirely on your situation. Runners in heavy training blocks often benefit from weekly sessions. Post-operative patients may use compression more frequently in the early weeks. For general fatigue management, fortnightly sessions work well for most people.
-
Standalone compression boot sessions are not directly claimable through private health funds. If your session is combined with a physiotherapy consultation, the clinical component may be claimable depending on your fund and level of cover. Contact the clinic and we'll help you understand your options.
