Running Physiotherapy.
Let’s work together to find your running sweet spot.
Running Physiotherapy in Brisbane.
If running keeps breaking you, the problem usually isn’t running. Most running injuries aren’t bad luck. Shin pain, ITB irritation, plantar heel pain, Achillies issues and recurring calf strains tend to follow patterns. This could be training load changed faster than your body could adapt, strength deficits in specific muscle groups, or mechanics that overload over again and again.
Whilst rest settles the symptoms, it rarely fixes the pattern. That’s why so many runners repeat the same injury cycle. Our approach is designed to break that cycle by finding the cause. At SANO Physio, we measure how you run and how strong you across the muscle groups that matter for running, then build a plan to support your running and fitness goals.
Our approach to Running Physiotherapy
-
Restore
Injured right now? Whether it's a calf strain that stopped you mid-run or shin pain that builds with every session, the first job is a clear diagnosis. You'll get a thorough clinical assessment, a working diagnosis, hands-on treatment where indicated and an early plan for what you can still do while the injury settles. Where it helps your case, we refer directly to our allied health partners including sports physicians, podiatry and dietetics. The aim is simple: out of pain and onto a path back to running.
-
Function.
Pain settled but not back to normal training? This is where most runners get stuck, and where rushed returns lead to repeat injuries. We rebuild your load tolerance, build strength for the key running muscles of the pelvis and lower limbs, return-to-run progressions with clear checkpoints, and video analysis to address the mechanics that contributed in the first place. VALD strength retesting shows us, and you, whether the deficits before training builds again.
-
Perform.
Running well and want more? This is where our Running Program comes into its own. First marathon, repeated Ironman event or a multi-day trial event on the books. We analyse your running mechanics, measure your strength against what your goal demands, and build a program of drills, strength targets and training structure designed to help you get there. We'll work with you directly or alongside your coach.
What to expect.
There are two common approaches depending on where you are.
If you’re injured now, book a physiotherapy consultation and your physio will take a full history, examine the injury and establish a diagnosis to work from. We’ll arrange a follow-up within the week to confirm your treatment plan, and any referrals or imaging if needed.
If you’re running but either want greater gains, or a symptom keeps coming back, book a Running Assessment for $199. This is a dedicated one-on-one session covering:
Your injury history, training background and goals
Video running analysis on the treadmill or overground, filmed from multiple angles in real time and slow motion
VALD testing where appropriate on key running muscle groups
A written report with your findings, priority areas and clear recommendations for home exercise plan, training adjustments and ongoing treatment or physiotherapy if needed.
After either starting point, home exercises are delivered through our Telehab prescription app, with an ongoing program destined to keep you running injury free.
